OHS Students Excel In the 2016 School Year

Congratulations to the following students and groups for their achievements during the 2016-17 school year.



Volleyball - Congratulations for receiving AVCA Team Academic Award. To achieve the award, high school volleyball teams must displayed excellence in the classroom by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale. The volleyball team also finished 2nd in the State last fall.

Drake Schultz - Was named Area Pacesetter by the Quad Cities Dispatch on September 6th. Click here to see Drake's article.

Evan Jacobsen - Was named Area Pacesetter by the Quad Cities Dispatch on September 20th. Click here to see Evan's article.

Marshal Jackson - Was named the Area Career Center Student of the Month (September) for the Building Trades II course. Building trades is a two-year program providing experiences in all phases of the construction industry. The major course project of building a house allows students to engage in concrete work, carpentry, roofing, tin work, tile work, and painting.

Adam Clark - Was named Area Pacesetter by the Quad Cities Dispatch on January 3rd. Click here to see Adam's article.

James Schnerre - Was named Area Pacesetter by the Quad Cities Dispatch on January 24th. Click here to see Jame's article.

Max Lillibridge - Was named the Area Career Center Student of the Month (January) for the Manufacturing Technology I course. This is an innovative two-year pre-engineering program in which students experience manufacturing processes first-hand. Some of the training is conducted on-site at John Deere Harvester Works plant and students receive training on current production machines and equipment from experienced workers.

Logan Lee - Won the Class A State Wrestling Championship at 220lbs.

James Schnerre - Placed 3rd in the Class A State Wrestling Tournament at 145lbs.

Girls' Cross Country, Football, Boys' Golf, Girls' Golf, Boys' Soccer, Volleyball - All of these teams earned the IHSA Team Academic Achievement Award. This program is designed to reward teamwork not only in competition, but in the classroom as well. The award recognizes those teams that maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or higher throughout their respective season.  Congrats to all of these fall sports!
