OHS Students Excel In the 2017 School Year

Congratulations to the following students and groups for their achievements during the 2017-18 school year.



Volleyball - Congratulations for receiving AVCA Team Academic Award. To achieve the award, high school volleyball teams must displayed excellence in the classroom by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale. The volleyball team also finished 2nd in the State last fall.

Ellie Johnson - Was named the Area Career Center Student of the Month (August) for the Manufacturing Technology II course. This course is part of an innovative two-year pre-engineering program in which students experience manufacturing processes first-hand. Some of the training is conducted on-site at John Deere Harvester Works plant and students receive training on current production machines and equipment from experienced workers.

Cole Lievens - Was named the Area Career Center Student of the Month (August) for the Welding I course. This two-year program provides instruction in common welding processes including oxy-acetylene, brazing, soldering, electric arc, MIG and TIG as well as in the preparation and layout of different welding joints, the care or expansion, contraction and stressing of metals, and the operation, care and repair of welding equipment.

Cole Lievens - For the second time, Cole was named the Area Career Center Student of the Month (September) for the Welding I course. Tyler Battin - Was named the Area Career Center Student of the Month (September) for the Law & Public Safety course. This is a two-year program designed to prepare students to enter into the fields of law enforcement and the criminal justice system. Instruction includes the history of law enforcement and the legal system, report writing, record keeping, criminal investigation techniques, and routine police procedures.
