ATTENTION STUDENTS: When a bus is stopped with their red lights flashing and Stop Arm/Stop Sign out, YOU MUST STOP and wait for the bus to finish loading or unloading.  You cannot stop and then continue on.  Driver’s will start reporting this violation to the police.  Violation of this law results in not only a fine, but a suspension of your license.

Ms. Bakener is out of the building today this morning.   

Congratulations to the Orion Volleyball Team as being one of the three finalists for the Quad City Times Salute to Sports “Girls Team of the Year”. The Volleyball team will be recognized during a sports ceremony at Bettendorf High School on May 4th with a reception starting at 6:45 and the program starting at 7:30.  

Chromebooks have been missing and broken the past couple of weeks. As a result of this, Chromebooks WILL NOT be available to be taken from the library the rest of the week (5/2-5/6) and will be locked in the office.

LIBRARY:  We are looking to update our book collection. Please add any suggestions to the book sign up in the library.  

SENIORS: If you wish to share your scholarship information from outside resources, and have it in the awards or graduation program, your forms are due on May 6th.  

WRESTLERS:  Coach Diamond will be here today to meet with you during your lunches for a few minutes.

Several families in the community are looking for babysitters, preferably with a driver's license, over the summer. Students interested, please see Ms. Bakener as soon as possible.

Students enrolling in any of the dual credit classes next year (ENG, SPEC, CALC, AG) must pick up a Registration Form from Ms. Bakener ASAP. Forms are due to Ms. Bakener no later than Friday, May 6. 

Juniors and Seniors interested in Trinity College of Nursing & Health Sciences Shadow Visit must pick up a form from Ms. Bakener soon. 

Attention ACC Students for the 2016-2017 School Year...Classes begin Wednesday, August 3rd. Auto Mechanic II students must provide their own transportation for the morning session. Everyone else (afternoon sessions) will need to meet at the high school for bus transportation no later than 12:15pm every day.

Juniors and Seniors taking any Dual Credit Ag Class during the 2016-2017 school year and would like to receive credit must see Ms. Bakener ASAP. Registration Forms for these classes are due Friday, May 6.

Students interested in a Shadow Visit at Trinity College of Nursing & Health Sciences need to see Ms. Bakener ASAP to complete the necessary paperwork and schedule a time.

Do you want to be part of the 2016 Color Guard Team?

Color Guard:  Clinic dates are  Tuesday May 3rd 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Auditions are Monday, May 9th at 4:00.  If you are interested please fill out an interest form found in the office and turn it into Ms. Hays mailbox.

Orion FFA Chapter annual plant sale is Friday, May 6th 3:30-5:30 and Saturday, May 7th 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Many flowering baskets, tomatoes, herbs, and more!!!

We have summer soccer camp, volleyball camp and girls’ basketball camp forms in the office.  Check the district website for other camp forms.  

Students interested in taking the ACT on Saturday, June 11 must register by Friday, May 6 at www.actstudent.org. (The late registration period for this test date is May 7 - 20, and will require an additional $25 late registration fee.) ACT test prep is available at www.actstudent.org.

Hammond-Henry Hospital is looking for students entering grades 8-12 in the fall of 2016 to partake in their Junior Volunteer Program. Junior Volunteers will provide assistance to staff and patients during the summer and provide teens with information about various careers in health care, as well as learn about responsibility and commitment. Applications to be a Junior Volunteer are available through Ms. Bakener and must be mailed in or delivered to Hammond-Henry Hospital by May 20.

Rural Health Careers Camp 2016 - Rockford University in Rockford, Illinois from June 27 - June 30.  This camp gives students more insight and hands on experiences to the different health field opportunities.  Fr, Soph and Jr students are eligible. Camp is $100. Please see Ms. Bakener for more information and/or an application.


Genesis Nursing Camp (July 11-15). Students in 8th grade and above that are interested in a career in nursing are invited to attend the Genesis Adventures in Nursing (GAIN) Camp, July 11-15, from 8am to noon. There is a $150 fee to participate, however scholarships are available. Please see Ms. Bakener for an application and/or more information.

WIU-QC Summer Enrichment Programs. WIU-QC is hosting a young writer's workshop July 5-8 for students who love writing and literature. For more information on WIU-QC's summer youth programs, please visit wiu.edu/summeryouth.

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION:   Toptal STEM scholarships for Women Totptal.com will award 12 scholarships to aspiring female computer scientists, developers and software engineers.
