Return to School Plan


Face Coverings

  • Masks are required for all students and adults by state mandate.

  • Not required during eating.

  • Potential creation of times for students/staff to be mask free when outside practicing social distancing.


Changes in the School Day

  • In-person learning on Mon., Wed., and Fri., from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  • Tues. and Thurs. will be remote learning days.

  • Option for remote learning Mon. through Fri.


Preventative Measures

  • Increased cleanings for each building; in addition, deep cleanings on Tues., and Thurs.

  • Increased hand washing and hand sanitizing.


Social Distancing

  • We will social distance as much as possible.

  • Utilize spaces in each building to accommodate larger classes.

Daily Symptom Screening

  • Must pass a daily COVID-19 symptom checklist.

    • Shared/posted at each building.

    • Students exhibiting symptoms should remain home.

  • Temperature checks

    • Bus students

      • Prior to boarding bus

    • All students

      • Prior to entering building

  • The main building entrance is the designated area to enter.

  • Students with a temperature of 100/4 degrees and above—

    • Not allowed to attend school

    • Must be fever free for 72 hours and have a doctor’s diagnosis that the fever was not due to COVID-19

    • Do not use medication to alleviate/mask high temperature

Lunch

  • OMS students will be having a Grab-and-Go lunch

  • Three lunch periods are scheduled and students will practice social distancing in the cafeteria, gym, classroom, activity room, and outside eating areas

  • Lunch will be available for pick up for students unable to attend


Restrooms and Passing Periods

  • Scheduled restroom breaks for classroom squads.

  • Individual squads will be dismissed one at a time to minimize the number of students in the hallway at one time.

  • Lockers will not be used and students will use their backpacks to store school supplies.  


Transportation

  • Temperature checks prior to boarding bus.

  • Parent/Guardian must be available immediately in the event a student is unable to board the bus.

  • All students will be required to wear a mask on the bus.  


Parent Communication

  • Our goal is to continue to provide as much detailed information as possible on a timely basis!

  • A Remote Learning template will be developed by grade level to assist parents and students in navigating the distance learning content.

Face Coverings

  • ISBE and IDPH are currently only recommending face masks as an appropriate face covering.


Locker Use

  • Lockers will not be used and students will use their backpacks to store school supplies.


Curriculum and Instruction

  • Instruction, assignments, assessments, and grading will be consistent for on-site and remote learning.

  • Traditional grading practices will be used for the 2020-21 school year.

  • District will provide electronic devices, but families will need to ensure Internet capability.

    • Please contact the IT Department if you do not have Internet access.


Flowchart

  • District is working with the Henry County Office of Emergency Management, Henry/Stark County Health Department, and the Illinois Department of Public Health.

  • Goal is to provide scenarios that may happen during the school year with student/staff illness and how the District might respond.

  • In ALL cases, Health Department will be involved with developing timelines for student and staff return.

  • Timelines may change due to Health Department guidance.
