Expectations:

1. This year your child will be receiving a letter grade in all subjects on both daily work and   report card.  However the students will not receive letter grades for P.E.  Any test in which  your child receives a D or lower will need to be signed and returned.

2. All assignments need to be completed neatly and handed in on time.  Throughout the year   we will be working to get the children organized and responsible for doing their     assignments.  One good way to insure success in getting assignments completed on time is to check your child’s assignment notebook each evening.  Papers not returned on time after the second report card will be lowered one grade.

3. Your child will bring their academic folder home on Friday containing the papers completed during the week, information from the office, and the teacher.  Please take a few minutes to review all papers and encourage your child to do their best work.  Your child’s papers are a good indication of the progress he/she is making.  An emptied academic folder should be signed, dated, and returned to school on the first day of the next week.

4. In spelling the students will be given a trial test on Monday or Wednesday and a final test on Friday.  The spelling lessons will be discussed and practiced Monday thru Thursday.  Those students receiving a 100% on the Wednesday trial test will not need to retake the test on Friday.  The spelling word list will come home in the Friday folder.

5. When your child is absent, a “make-up” worksheet is prepared for them.  This “make – up” worksheet explains each lesson and assignment the student missed.  Attached to that are any worksheets passed out for that day.  Be sure to look for this form and help your child with missed lessons.  The student has one day to make up each missed day’s work.

6. Birthday treats are always welcome, but please try to make the treat simple and send a note in advance.  This will prevent conflicts with other birthdays or special occasion.  We can also celebrate half birthdays.

7. Students are expected to have a library book in their desk at all times.

8. All students are expected to participate in recess and should dress appropriately.

9. We have P.E. Monday - Friday.  Please be sure to send your child with “Gym” shoes.

What is special about 4th Grade?
