OMS Student of the Week: Lilly!
Lilly has a great attitude in class. She sets the example of what an exceptional student looks like by working hard while having fun at the same time. She lifts her peers up with her positive attitude while serving as a model for how to behave during a lesson. I never have to worry that Lilly will get off-track; instead, she is an asset in class by keeping those around her focused.- Mr. Cutkomp
Lillian showed honesty and integrity in a situation during class. She was very mature, articulate, and discreet in how she handled the situation, and her actions were a true reflection of her strong moral compass. Thank you for doing the right thing, Lillian. We appreciate you. - Mrs. Weller

Announcements April 29, 2026
The OMS school dance will be on Friday, May 8th. 6th-grade dance will be from 5:00-6:00 pm, and the 7th/8th-grade dance will be from 6:15-7:15 pm. Admission is $2. Snacks will be available for purchase.
OMS 8th-graders had a lovely trip to Modern Woodman Park yesterday to watch the "School Day" game! The students had a great time enjoying the beautiful weather and watching the Bandits win with a walk-off single in the bottom of the 9th! OMS was lucky enough to be chosen to have some students help with their pre-game activities. Lane delivered the game ball, Tessa cleared home plate, Colton was the mini-manager, and Bryce declared, "Play ball!"
Happy National Administrative Professionals' Day to the best secretaries around! Thank you, Mrs. Sandburg and Mrs. Boyd, for keeping OMS running smoothly. We are tremendously lucky to have you!
OMS students had the amazing opportunity to listen to Holocaust child survivor Yvonne Aronson. Yvonne was born in 1939 in Brussels. In 1940, her father and brother were taken to a labor camp. Yvonne and her mother went into hiding at a convent. Yvonne's mother became extremely ill, but thanks to a generous local pharmacist, they were able to hide in his cellar. After her mother's recovery, Yvonne was sent to a widow who was willing to hide and care for her, where she spent the next three years. After the war, Yvonne immigrated to the U.S. in March 1947. Yvonne's father had perished in Auschwitz. The students were so lucky to hear directly from a survivor of the Holocaust.
6th-grader Rosalee attended the Holocaust dinner and reception. Rosalee placed third in the entries. Rosalee was able to privately chat with Yvonne, a child survivor of the Holocaust. Rosalee described Yvonne as witty and relatable. Congrats, Rosalee, on your 3rd-place entry.

OMS Student of the Week: Harper!
Harper truly embodies everything we hope to see in a Charger student. She is genuinely kind, respectful, and considerate of everyone around her. Harper consistently stays on top of her academic responsibilities and approaches her work with care and dedication. She works well with every classmate in science. Harper participates regularly and brings a wonderful attitude to class each day. There will be an informational meeting for current 7th graders who are interested in going on the 2027 Washington, DC trip. The meeting will be on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 6:00 pm in the OMS library. This is just an informational meeting-attending does not require signing up.
OMS PE Student of the Week! Bentlee!
Bentlee is our PE student of the week. Bentlee pays attention to details, follows directions, and knows the rules and expectations of PE class. She is always prepared and eager to learn and participate. She consistently gives 100% effort every day. She is kind, encouraging, and helpful to others in class. We can always depend on her to be accountable and responsible. Bentlee is an exemplary student and leads with positive enthusiasm! Thank you, Bentlee, for your contribution to making OMS a better place.
