We had a very special guest in "Charger Country" today! A huge thank you to Chief Meteorologist James Zahara from WQAD News 8 for spending his morning with our wonderful Third Graders at C.R. Hanna Elementary School.
The students were captivated as James shared stories of his own childhood dreams. Long before the high-tech StormTrack 8 doppler radar, James was just a kid with chart paper and colored pencils, drawing his own weather maps and dreaming of the skies.

Reminder: The OHS National Honor Society students are hosting a BINGO night on Thursday, February 12th, at the high school. Doors open at 5:30 and Bingo starts at 6. Bring your family and friends for a fun night of Bingo, raffle baskets, a nacho bar, and games. All ages are welcome to attend. The cost to play BINGO is $10 person. All funds raised will be donated to King's Harvest Ministries to support people experiencing homelessness in the Quad Cities.

Girl scout troop 5218 had a cooking demo with the high school culinary club. Chef talked about the science of cooking and had them make chocolate covered strawberries. Love to see collaboration between elementary and high school students! 🍓

E-Learning Day for Orion School District on Friday, January 23, 2026!
This week, students combined for and extra special Music and PE unit. Students spent a drumtastic week drumming and exercising on stability balls. The students enjoyed the activities. While kindergarten through second grades finished up their time with the “drums,” grades 3-5 will continue drumming Tuesday and Wednesday.
Friday, January 24 is our Space Day Spirit Day, and we can’t wait to see the galaxy of creativity shine!

Our first and second grade students did a wonderful job at their holiday program, “Strum and Drum a Merry Little Quest!"
The music, smiles, and enthusiasm truly kicked off the holiday season and made the evening so special for everyone in attendance.

Our amazing 2nd grade teachers turned the hallway into a festive holiday Gingerbread Lane, and it is pure sweet joy! From candy canes to cozy cottages, every detail was made with love to bring a little extra magic to our school.
A huge shoutout to our incredible custodian, Mr. Dennis, who went all-in and dressed up as a gingerbread man to help bring the hallway to life. The kids (and adults!) are absolutely loving it!
