What is your favorite subject in school ? Art is my favorite subject, because it provides a creative outlet during school, and it's one of the most chill classes to take. Art is a huge part of my life, so I love being able to do it in school, too.
What activities are you involved with both inside and outside of school? In school, I'm involved with Student Council, Senior Executive Council, and National Honors Society. This mostly just involves a lot of volunteer work, but one of my favorite days is loading day for the Hunger Drive with the student council. Outside of school, I enjoy helping my dad and grandparents at their farm, along with a lot of art projects. I enjoy both digital and traditional art, so my room has basically become a studio.
What are your goals after high school – college, career, military, etc.? After high school, I hope to attend Colorado State University and major in Restoration Ecology. After College, I hope to work in restoration and conservation.
What pro-tip would you give students on how to survive high school? Try to embrace the fun parts of high school as well as the hard parts. High school can be such an exhilarating, stressful, exciting experience, and it really does go by faster than you can believe.
What motivates you to work hard and stay involved at school? I want to leave high school knowing I contributed something. I don't want to regret not doing more, so I try to be involved as much as I can.
If you had to give a TED Talk tomorrow, what would it be about? I would talk about all the animals we should domesticate next. I love cats and dogs, but I think it would be amazing to have a pet raccoon. Also, this may be an unpopular opinion, but animals like foxes, coyotes, opossums, and bats look like they would be amazing pets if we domesticate them.
What did one of Allison's teachers have say about her? Mrs. Jensen: Alli is a well-rounded student who works hard to keep her grades up. She's responsible, and always respectful to everyone around her be it faculty, staff or students. Alli is an asset to have in class, not just because of her love of art, but because her positive attitude helps create a safe space for other students who may struggle. Her positivity also rubs off on other students which is always a plus. Alli is always willing to listen to constructive criticism, and apply changes and suggestions if needed. Alli's willingness to help new students both in class and out, has helped them to feel comfortable at OHS. Not everyone would be willing to do something like that, but all I had to do was ask Alli for her help, and she was instantly willing to do so.
Another teacher wrote, Alli has always been an example for the people around her. She works hard, she doesn't take shortcuts, she is giving with her time, and she is kind to her peers.
