On Thursday at OHS, Mrs Nightingale’s Health classes participated in a build challenge to practice different levels of communication. Students worked together to build the tallest and strongest structure with limited supplies. Some leadership qualities definitely emerged!

The OHS Boys Track and Field team took first place at the Monmouth Roseville Titan Indoor meet last week.
Brody Ossian delivered a solid performance, putting together a big night that played a key role in the team’s success. He placed 2nd in the triple jump with a leap of 38’, while also earning 7th in the high jump by clearing 5’6”. Both marks tied his lifetime personal best. Brody’s efforts contributed to the team total of 95 points, helping secure the victory over Farmington. Stepping up in multiple events and reaching new personal milestones, Brody showed he’s ready to be a major contributor this year.

Charley Arnold and Carter Sersland stepped up in a big way in the 400m dash, showing they’re ready to take on larger roles this season. In a tight race, the two pushed each other to the line, with Charley narrowly edging Carter by less than one hundredth of a second. They finished 2nd and 3rd respectively, both clocking lifetime indoor bests of 54.95. The pair carried that momentum into the 4x400 relay, teaming up with Aidan Leingang and Wyatt Steen to secure a 2nd place finish in 3:46.95. Their combined efforts played a key role in locking in the overall team victory and set the tone for what this group can accomplish moving forward.

The 2026 Track season is officially underway and our boys got off to a strong start this year with some solid performances at the ROWVA Indoors Exhibition and the Saint Ambrose boys indoor. Here are our top performers from each meet.

Will Maher kicked off his season in impressive fashion on Monday night, capturing first place in the long jump with a mark of 20’1.75”. Competing in his first meet of the year and his first time on the runway this season, Will showed both composure and competitive focus. His ability to deliver a winning jump right out of the gate highlights his readiness to compete at a high level as well as a strong foundation to build upon.

Owen Voorhees proved he’s ready to make an impact on the track this season with a strong showing at the Saint Ambrose Indoor, competing against a deep field that included larger programs like Rock Island, Bettendorf, and Moline. He turned in an outstanding performance in the 60m dash, finishing 2nd overall in 7.08, and followed it up with a 7th place finish in the 200m at 23.60. Owen also set the tone for the 4x200 relay, leading off a team that placed 6th with a time of 1:37.42. Taking on high-level competition and delivering across multiple events, Owen demonstrated both his speed and his ability to rise to the challenge early in the season.

Wyatt Steen continues to show the value of his experience as a four-year high jumper, opening his season with a strong performance against a large and competitive field. Coming off last year’s state meet appearance, Wyatt cleared 6’00” to earn 3rd place in a field of 40 athletes, a mark that reflects both his consistency and technical skill early in the year. In addition to his success in the high jump, Wyatt played a role in the team’s 4x200 relay, contributing to a 6th place finish. His leadership and ability to deliver in big moments remain a key asset for the team as the season gets underway.
