The Orion Community Unit School District #223 Board of Education is seeking candidates interested in fulfilling a vacancy on the Board.  The opening will be filled by Board appointment until the next Consolidated Election held in April 2027.  A Board of Education member must be, on the date of appointment, a United States citizen, at least 18 years of age, a resident of Illinois and the District for at least one year immediately preceding, and a registered voter.  Membership on the Board of Education is restricted to a maximum of three (3) members from any congressional township.  The Orion C.U.S.D. #223 Board of Education currently has three members who reside in Western Township.  Therefore, interested candidates may not reside in Western Township.  The district’s other townships include:  Lynn, Andover, Osco, Colona, Edford, Rural, and Coal Valley I.  Residents interested in being considered for the appointment should file a letter of interest and resume at the Orion Community Unit School District #223 District Office at 1002 11th Avenue, P.O. Box 189, Orion, IL  61273, by Noon on Wednesday, May 14, 2025.  After reviewing the applications, the Board may invite the prospective candidates for personal interviews to be conducted during duly scheduled closed meetings.
